Tyson Utt

Vice President of Development, East

Tyson leads Apex Clean Energy’s development team in the Eastern United States. He is responsible for the origination and development of wind and solar projects within PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, and SERC markets. Prior to joining Apex, Tyson worked on the development and construction of now operating projects across NYISO, SPP, ERCOT, PJM, and WECC while working with Horizon Wind Energy in Houston, TX and subsequently EDP Renewables in Portland, OR. He holds an MBA from James Madison University and a BS from JMU’s College of Integrated Science and Technology where he studied renewable energy policy and applications abroad in Malta and Germany, and at the DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado. He served on the board of the Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Coalition (www.marec.us) from 2010 to 2019 and has served as Chairman of the Virginia Renewable Energy Alliance (www.va-rea.org) since 2015.
