Derek Wenger

Derek Wenger is manager–New Technology and Renewable Programs, Power Delivery Group. He is responsible for developing renewable energy programs and integrating new technologies such as distributed generation and electric vehicles within Dominion Energy’s Virginia regulated service territory. Additionally, he is leading efforts to develop Dominion Energy Virginia’s Grid Transformation Plan. Wenger joined the company as an intern in 2008. Upon graduation, he worked in the Customer Service organization, where he held various analyst positions. He moved to the Electric Distribution Finance team in 2010 and was promoted to Manager–Electric Distribution Financial and Business Services in 2014 where he was responsible for reporting, analytics and planning for the Electric Distribution organization. Wenger transitioned to his current role in September 2017. Wenger is a member of the Solar Collaborative Working Group led by Mark Rubin to advance and develop renewable energy policy and legislation in Virginia. He also serves on the Board of Directors for NC GreenPower which is a nonprofit with a mission of improving the environment by supporting renewable energy projects and providing grant funding for solar installations at schools throughout NC. Wenger earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Management from Christopher Newport University.
