Virginia Clean Economy Act
Our Inaugural Summit in 2019 featured a Keynote Address by Ralph S. Northam, 73rd Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, where he signed the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA).
At the 2019 Summit, Executive Order 43 was announced, which tasked the commonwealth's electric systems with producing 30% of electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and achieving 100% carbon-free electricity by 2050.
Since the announcement of Executive Order 43, the Virginia Clean Economy Act was signed into law. This landmark legislation established additional goals and mechanisms needed to secure the future of renewable energy across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
